New adventure

As some of my readers might be aware, I am currently studying to become a Personal Performance Coach (sometimes referred to as Life Coach). This is not because I want to change my career – I love teaching – but because I want to expand my knowledge and develop my skills. Learning new things is a great way to heal. It focuses the mind on the future rather than the past.

Unfortunately, I have not been very proactive in my learning and I am getting behind. I still have a tendency to procrastinate which is obviously affecting my progress. I only just realised, by talking to some of the other coaching trainees, that I should have started coaching people after my first live training day which was in July. I have done a lot of the theoretical work, but now it is time to bite the bullet and start doing some practice.

Why am I telling you this, you might wonder?

Well, because I need your help!

I need clients or coachees to practise my skills. Therefore, if you would like to help me get my qualification and have free coaching sessions as a bonus, then send me a message via my Contact me page – not via comments to respect confidentiality.  The sessions can be conducted via Skype or face to face if you live in London, UK.

Coaching is not therapy or counselling, so in order for you to be clear about what coaching is, I have copied an extract of the information I have written for the Homepage of my  new coaching website Pathways 21 Coaching.

What is Coaching?

Coaching is a tool that is used to empower individuals and help them reach their goals; it is a structured conversation between the Coach and the Client. During a coaching session your coach will walk by your side to help you to reach your ultimate goal and aspirations. They will listen to you, ask questions, find out what your challenges are and inspire you to reach that end goal. You will be encouraged to make decisions and take responsibility for these decisions.

What coaching is not

Coaching is not about your coach giving you suggestions or advice. They are not mentoring or counselling you. If you commence a series of coaching sessions and it is deemed that coaching is not the correct support mechanism for you at this moment in time this will be discussed with you directly to find a suitable solution to support your onward journey.

I have not had much time to write posts for this website but when I get more time, I will try to share some of the tools coaches use to help their clients uncover their self, identify their values, challenge their limiting beliefs and develop self-belief.
